August 5, 2012

This past week was super good for us. We are able to meet with our investigators pretty much at anytime during the week so we usually meet every 2 days or so so we've been really busy with appointments at the church and stuff like that which is really nice because it's really hot outside. It's usually close to 100F everyday and Korean people are saying that it's the hottest it's been in 100 years, but they say that pretty much every year so I don't know whether or not I believe it. Either way though it's super hot so having appointments at the church rock because we can just sit inside an air conditioned room and have back to back to back appointments. This week I had a really interesting couple of events. The first one was one of our baptismal dates dropping in a really funny manner. We met him on the street as we were heading to another appointment so we decided to talk with him and catch up with him for a little bit because last time we had met him he was super drunk and begged us to baptize him. Anyways, he kept asking us when he could be baptized and he seemed like he really wanted to be baptized. We explained to him though that he needed to stop drinking in order to be baptized and he just like thought for a second, and then said "well, I guess I won't be baptized then!" It was pretty funny, we knew that he didn't have a whole ton of potential to start out with, so we're just planning on meeting with him and helping him quit drinking. Anyways, after meeting him on the street we headed over to Kang Gir Gu's house (bearded man who is absolutely golden) and we ate traditional Korean food with him. We had something called Bo Shin Tang, which translated to English is Dog soup. He fed us a huge bowl of it and put extra dog meat in it and it was pretty gnarly. If I'm 100% honest with myself, it wasn't that bad. If he wouldn't have told us that it was dog I could have eaten it no problem, but just the thought of eating dog and there were really big chunks of fat and stuff like that so it was kind of hardish to eat. But before eating I prayed that it wouldn't taste too bad and it didn't, so I was able to finish the entire huge bowl of it. I forgave him though because he brought his daughter to church on Sunday and we were able to meet with her so since he's super super awesome, I forgave him for feeding us dog.
